【校長だより】外国語科 グローバルセミナー冒頭あいさつ

５月２６日（火）、外国語科１・２・３年生そろって、グローバルセミナーを実施しました。

「ことばの世界とグローバルな視点」と題してご講義いただいた内容は「坂高Day by Day」に詳述されています。

元々英語教師である校長として、外国語科の生徒の前では、なるべく英語を使って見せるよう心掛けています。

この日も冒頭のあいさつを英語で行いました。外国語の習得に特化した学習を重点的に行っている生徒たちに伝えたい思いを述べたものです。

Good morning, students.

Today, we are honored to welcome a distinguished guest from Tsudajuku University, Professor Goro Takuya, to our Global Seminar.

I understand that the title of today’s lecture is “The World of Language and Global Perspectives.” What a stimulating and inspiring theme! I hope today’s lecture will encourage you to think more broadly and deeply about languages. 

I believe in the power of language. That is why I chose to become a teacher of English forty years ago. And you, too, believe in the power of language—that is why you are studying in the Foreign Languages Department of Sakado High School. 

Language is a bridge between thought and expression. It enables us to share ideas, emotions, and experiences. Your words can inspire, comfort, and unite, but they can also divide and harm. I believe that you are the ones who will use language to build bridges, not barriers. 

Listen carefully, think deeply, and ask as many questions as you can.

Let’s make this seminar a meaningful and memorable one.

要旨

津田塾大学から郷路拓也教授をお迎えしてグローバルセミナーを開催する。演題は「ことばの世界とグローバルな視点」。思考を刺激するテーマだ。本日の講義が、みなさんがより広く、より深く言語について考える契機となるよう願う。

私は言語の力を信じている。だからこそ４０年前に英語教師になることを選んだ。みなさんもまた言語の力を信じている。だからこそ坂戸高校外国語科で学んでいる。

言語は思考と表現をつなぐ橋だ。思考、感情、経験を共有することを可能にしてくれる。みなさんの言葉は人を触発し、慰め、結びつけることができる。他方、分断させ、傷つけることもできる。皆さんが、障壁ではなくかけ橋を築くために言葉を使う人であることを信じる。

注意深く聞き、深く考え、たくさん質問してほしい。このセミナーを、有意義かつ記憶に残るものにしよう。
